PRESS RELEASE

Texas A&M designs an EXTREME MAKEOVER for the Victory Family Recovery Center in Houston.

Texas A&M Architecture Students team up with the Linbeck Group a construction company in Houston and Victory Family Recovery Center to design a substance abuse recovery center for needy men and women in Houston.

In 1994 an old run-down apartment building was the beginning for Victory Family.  Expanding next door to take in two additional dilapidated houses, they now have over 70 men and women seeking a Christ-centered approach to rehab calling this place home.  Currently Victory Family holds a 60% success record for its graduates compared to the national average of 3-4%.  People come from all over the United States to experience the freedom they find in a “faith-filled” environment.  Their success has gone beyond Houston into two additional centers in Mexico.

Steve Trevino remarked “Our mission is to bring Jesus to hurting people, to see families healed and restored and to provide a safe place for people to overcome addiction through the power of Christ.”

“Right now the mission to transform lives is hampered by the rundown dilapidated buildings currently in use” said Pastor Trevino.  Along with Judge Travis Bryan III of Bryan, Texas, Director Trevino and the College of Architecture students at A&M have taken on the task of a complete new design of the facilities.

Students took on the task under the direction of Professor George J. Mann, AIA, Dr. Joseph J. McGraw, Profession Emeritus, and Dr. Kazu Okamoto, visiting Assistant Professor from the University of Tokyo, they agreed to direct the studio project.  Dr. Julian Kang of the Construction Science Department has acted as an advisor along with Chuck Greco, also an A&M graduate, and CEO of the Linbeck Group.

Now, we want to get busy and build the new buildings proposed by A&M said Steve Trevino, Director, and if you would like to help, you can “Buy A Brick” to incorporate in the building or make a donation to purchase needed equipment.
